Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse is Ready to Kill the Player

The main character dies in Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse. Spoiler alert. Well, that’s actually how the game begins. And the player will die many more times before the end of the game. Apocalypse is the sequel to the Nintendo 3DS game Shin Megami Tensei IV, released in 2013. Taking place a considerable time after the original game, a new protagonist must decide the fate of the world.

After dying, a demigod, Dagda, takes interest in the player character and decides to revive him to be used as a vassal. The battle between Lucifer and Merkabah is still raging and no one is quite sure of Dagda’s role in it all.

Familiar faces will be returning in this game including Flynn, Walter, Johnathan and, of all people, the most hated Navarre. Despite this, no knowledge of SMTIV will be needed in order to pick up this game.

Divine Intrigue – Choose between peace or anarchy while being a pawn in the gods’ chess game.

Combat Partners – Hunting demons is dangerous, so count on some backup! Alongside the standard three demons, players will be able to rely on one of seven partners to help win battles.

Oodles of Demons – Be on your guard because Tokyo is infested with a series record 450+ demons to fight, fuse, or recruit.

Revamped Demon Fusion – Demons will have affinities for certain skills, so players can better plan the outcome of fusions.

Classic SMT Combat – Prospective Hunters will exploit weaknesses, boost attributes, and unlock skill bonuses with the returning Press Turn and Smirking systems.

Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse is estimated for a Summer 2016 release with no exact date.
