Battlefront 3 Remake Being Published on Steam

The Stars Wars fan game inspired by the cancelled Star Wars Battlefront 3, Galaxy in Turmoil, is being officially released on Steam for free. The president of the development team, Tripwire Studios, said this in a blog post:

It is with great pleasure that as of today I am able to officially announce that Frontwire Studios has officially signed a distribution deal with Steam/Valve for the game Galaxy in Turmoil. After ongoing discussion between Valve Representatives and myself, Valve/Steam has agreed to ship Galaxy in Turmoil to it’s millions of users for FREE. While this is undoubtedly a big step and accomplishment for Frontwire Studios itself, it’s an even bigger step for you, the community. By Steam agreeing to ship Galaxy in Turmoil we are not only adding more validation and awareness to the project by opening up the game to a whole new audience, we’re also cementing Frontwire Studios’ reputation as an up and coming developer with the opportunity to now publish our games on Steam in the future. This will help us ultimately achieve our goal of making the games that you, the community want. On a final note; People have been expressed their concern as of late, saying they expect us to get a Cease & Desist from Disney. […] I encourage everyone, including those that doubt we’ll be able to pull this off, to take a page from Valve’s book. Take a deep breath and just take a chance on our project. In the end, it’ll pay off for everyone involved. Especially the community. We could not have brought Frontwire to where it is today without the amazing team of developers working on it. […] Further more, this company would be nothing without the amazing backing and support from you, the community. You are the reason we went from a fan project to a full studio. You are the reason we’re working so hard to make something everyone wants. YOU are the reason Valve has agreed to publish us. I am truly thankful for each and every one of you who continuously support not only Galaxy in Turmoil, but Frontwire Studios as a whole. I look forward to watching this community grow and evolve as we embark on this wild journey together.

The possibly of the game being released on Steam was originally in doubt because of the game’s heavy use of the Star Wars IP. However, this news means that game (hopefully) will be seen to fruition without a cease and desist abruptly ending the project.
